Jin’s Daily AI Trivia: World’s First Humanoid Half-Marathon!
On Saturday, 21 humanoid robots raced alongside thousands of human runners on a 21km (13-mile) course in Beijing, China.
Tiangong Ultra, developed by the Beijing Humanoid Robot Innovation Center, completed the course in 2 hours and 40 minutes—nearly two hours slower than the human world record of 56:42, set by Ugandan runner Jacob Kiplimo. For comparison, the winner of Saturday’s men’s race finished in just 1 hour and 2 minutes.
It’s crazy to see how fast robots are advancing these days. Not long ago, we were just teaching robots to walk—now they’re running half-marathons! Imagine what they’ll be capable of in just a few more years.
Hope you learned something new today. See ya!
