My friend Yusri Salleh asked me what’s the latest cutting-edge AI model for image editing and generation—especially for beginners.
For amateur, most of us are already using tools like ComfyUI to fine-tune our image workflows and create specific effects or results we want. But for beginners?
When I checked the local AI groups, most of the posts were just AI-generated press releases hyping up yet another model with questionable benchmark results. Nothing really useful—just more FOMO.
So here’s my quick rundown of the best image models for beginners (as of July 2025): • Seedream 3.0 – no comment from me. • Google Imagen 4 – latest update is a big step up. • GPT Image model – still the best at following your prompt accurately. • Flux Kontext – amazing at editing existing photos. • HK HiDream – I like this one too. It’s a MoE (Mixture of Experts) model, unlike Flux.
Hope you learned something new today! See ya!
