Like it or hate it, the AI coding world is slowly ditching the traditional IDE interface and moving toward the new Codex-style AI chat interface.
The new GitHub Copilot app is a desktop experience for agent-driven development, built natively around GitHub. It is available for paid GitHub Copilot users on macOS, Windows, and Linux.
The old VS Code extension is still there, of course. But no longer the priority.
